More ways to give

Beyond a card on the donation page, here are the other ways to fund our work, ordered by how much they typically move the mission.

Donor-advised funds (DAFs)

If you give through Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, Vanguard Charitable, or another sponsoring organization, you can recommend a grant to The Shared World Project using our EIN 39-4633454. Most DAF platforms support a direct search by name or EIN. DAFs are typically the largest source of giving for organizations our size, and the smoothest for the donor.

Stock and securities

Gifts of appreciated stock can offer significant tax advantages compared to giving cash. Contact our team for transfer instructions to our brokerage account. Please notify us of your intended gift in advance so we can correctly attribute it.

Employer matching

Many employers match employee charitable gifts. Check with your HR department to see if your company will match your gift to The Shared World Project. It can double or even triple your contribution. We're happy to provide any documentation your employer needs.

In-kind gifts (Second Life Collective)

If your business is moving offices, refreshing equipment, or producing recoverable organic waste, our Second Life Collective program can receive those items and route them to communities that need them, or sell them at our neighborhood resale shops to fund our other programs. In-kind donations may be tax-deductible at fair market value, subject to IRS Publication 561 guidance.

Planned giving: wills, trusts, and beneficiary designations

Naming The Shared World Project as a beneficiary in your will, trust, or retirement account is one of the most impactful long-term ways to support the mission. Please share the following with your attorney or financial planner:

  • Legal name: The Shared World Project
  • EIN: 39-4633454
  • Status: 501(c)(3) public charity

Cryptocurrency

We're setting up a crypto-donation pathway through a 501(c)(3)-compatible processor. Until that's live, please contact us if you want to make a gift in crypto today and we'll arrange it manually.
